Hasselback Potatoes

Soft on the inside, crispy on the outside - they look good and taste amazing.

Preparation time: 60 minutes

The Blacksmith Plus Cast Iron Fry Pan is the tool of choice for this sunlet bunch of deliciousness.

 

Ingredients

  • 5 potatoes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp dried thyme or rosemary, crushed
  • ¼ tsp paprika powder
  • Oven, pre-heated to 200°C

Procedure

  • Place the potato in between two wooden spoon handles or chopsticks on the chopping board and slice thinly. The thinner, the better.
  • Place the potatoes in an oven-friendly cast iron pan.
  • Mix the rest of the ingredients and drizzle the mixture over the potatoes.
  • Place the pan in the oven and bake for 60 minutes.
  • In between, bring out the pan and baste the potatoes with the liquid in the pan using a kitchen brush.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs.
  • Make sure you don’t miss out on any of the deliciously intense flavours - serve in the pan itself!
